V-day

We very rarely do "parties" at school. We do so much stuff outside of school I dont think it is necessary.  But this year is a little different. We have recently had a big move with the hubbies company from MI all the way to TX. So I decided what better way to give the kids a little excitement and cheer them up then a v-day party!?
We always start school with a bible verse. So the party was no different. (Also we arent into all the hallmark holidays so when I can make it my own I do!) 1Cor. 13:4-8 it was. It is a great verse to teach all the wonderful things that LOVE can be,check it out, you wont be disappointed.
Next we had our heart shaped lunch sammies and chips. I had to incorporate the new Disney movie Frozen. It is a big thing at our house right now. So we had a snack of Olaf. You had to build him out of pretzels, marshmallows, and chocolate chips (in maddies case dairy free).
And is any party complete without games/activites? I think not at least in our house! We did stack the candy hearts, marshmallows race, and my kids favorite activity love potion (food coloring, backing soda, and lots of vinegar). Which also included a little science lesson. We had a coloring contest and played with playdough.  And to round it out they each got a bag with some goodies in it.  The bags turned out so cute.  I used red paint, the end of a pencil, and a muslin bag.
Hope you get some ideas for your next party. We had a lot of fun and maybe it will be something we do more often. Now to get some real school work done over here. ;-)

(Just a little FYI I did get most of my ideas off of pinterest!)

GB turns 1

Where has the time gone? I cant believe it has been a year already. It seems just like yesterday I was holding my very hefty 10lb second little boy in my arms. G is still very hefty yet the sweetest little thing imaginable. He brings a joy into my life I can not explain.
I think back to when I found out I was having him and the exspression on Blains face for finally getting his brother, makes me smile.
My little man realized today he was 1 and def. acted like it. He did a number of different things today... He first has found a new LOVE for his dad. Usually he is attached to my hip doing everything I do. Yet today he was glued to daddy. If daddy liked this he did, if dad wanted him to wear his party crown he did. It really is the natural cycle at our house. Around 1 I loose them to the "world" or dad either way im minced meat once weaned ;-)
Second he was very mouthy, during cake and ice cream he bossed May around until she got him more and while they were all playing he was the boss man, no if ands or butts.
It is really amazing to me to see not only G but all of the kiddos grow and become their own little people. It is truly a blessing!
I am a little broken hearted that we didnt have a big shin dig like I use to have at the old farm house. Lots of food and family and just all around great times :-(!
Ah the ups and downs of living a good 24 hours drive time from your family!
All around I think that G and the kids had a great realaxing day! Now tomorrow will be a different story with clean up. It never ceases to amaze me as to what 5 kids can do to a house!

Newbie

Well here goes nothing...
I am on my way to a new adventure called blogging! I hope you will enjoy what I will be posting.  It maybe a second or days before I get it all figured out and running smoothly.
