V-day

We very rarely do "parties" at school. We do so much stuff outside of school I dont think it is necessary.  But this year is a little different. We have recently had a big move with the hubbies company from MI all the way to TX. So I decided what better way to give the kids a little excitement and cheer them up then a v-day party!?
We always start school with a bible verse. So the party was no different. (Also we arent into all the hallmark holidays so when I can make it my own I do!) 1Cor. 13:4-8 it was. It is a great verse to teach all the wonderful things that LOVE can be,check it out, you wont be disappointed.
Next we had our heart shaped lunch sammies and chips. I had to incorporate the new Disney movie Frozen. It is a big thing at our house right now. So we had a snack of Olaf. You had to build him out of pretzels, marshmallows, and chocolate chips (in maddies case dairy free).
And is any party complete without games/activites? I think not at least in our house! We did stack the candy hearts, marshmallows race, and my kids favorite activity love potion (food coloring, backing soda, and lots of vinegar). Which also included a little science lesson. We had a coloring contest and played with playdough.  And to round it out they each got a bag with some goodies in it.  The bags turned out so cute.  I used red paint, the end of a pencil, and a muslin bag.
Hope you get some ideas for your next party. We had a lot of fun and maybe it will be something we do more often. Now to get some real school work done over here. ;-)

(Just a little FYI I did get most of my ideas off of pinterest!)
